    No I am sure it should work forever, just not being up to date.
    You are right that it is locked into the car and is a different system anyway.

    Sounds like there is a problem somewhere with it.
    I guess a FL owner will be along shortly who can confirm one way or the other.

    just trying the map update for the first time - fooking hell - I have a 72Mb tinterweb conection and its telling me the download will take 6hrs 4mins - do LR have a very small guy runnind up and down the wire with a bucket of data to do this

    Yes, it normal for the updates to be that size and they tend to come out at least every month.

    finally - finished downloading about 12 noon. Thank god it only took about 15mins to update the car.

    Weird. My 32GB USB3 Sandisk has never given me an issue with a PC. Now trying to download to the same stick on a Mac and it says insufficient space.

    Mac shows only 30GB free space (map is 28GB) formatted as MS-DOS Fat 32 using DiskUtility.

    So is there something I’m missing or do I need to now buy a 64GB stick ??

    A Mac is a bit different, it doesn’t really clean the usb/hard drive/... after you dropped stuff in the bin... so download this one here, it’s free:
