I think the key here is the "Phase 3" update, of which there have already been a number of versions.
SSM73677 is still the Phase 3 update.
This is getting a bit like computer updates ! So, this is V3.x something or other?
Oddly, it's called 17C. They also seem to have resolved the RSE problem too, but the installer has to have updated the diagnostic (Pathfinder) software to do this.
So yesterday SSM73614 - InControl Touch Pro failing to update to Phase 3 with vehicles fitted with RSE only was released, for those who have screens in the back.
SSM messages don't usually provide a great deal more than the specific service instructions. Technical Bulletins are usually more enlightening. SSM73677 simply says:
Issue: A customer may report and of the following concerns when selecting functions on the Touch Screen for 17MY/ 18MY - L405 Range Rover/ L494 Range Rover Sport/ L560 Range Rover Velar/ L462 Discovery:
Unable to enter Northern Ireland post codes into the Satellite Navigation Touch Screen.
SVR logo no longer displayed on Touch Screen at start up.
Distorted sound through all audio speakers in surround mode.
Intermittently the radio station displayed on the Instrument Cluster is not the same as the selected radio station displayed and broadcast on the Touch Screen.
Cause: Infotainment Master Controller (IMC) software.
Action: Using Pathfinder P123 or later, re-configure the IMC as follows:
Connect the Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) approved battery support unit.
Connect the JLR approved diagnostic tool to the vehicle and begin a new diagnostic session. The diagnostic tool will read the correct VIN for the current vehicle and automatically take the vehicle out of ‘Transportation mode’ if required.
Follow the diagnostic tool prompts.
Select ‘ECU diagnostics’.
Select ‘Infotainment Master Controller’ (IMC).
Select’ ECU functions’
Select ‘Update to phase 3 – InControl Touch Pro’
Follow all on screen instructions to complete the task.
If required, reset the vehicle to ‘Transportation mode’
When all of the tasks are complete, exit the session.
Disconnect the diagnostic equipment and battery support unit.
Note: Land Rover Technical Service Bulletin LTB01108 will be updated shortly to reflect the release of Pathfinder 123
I picked up my D5 yesterday and to my disappointment despite asking for it to be done ‘update 3’ had not been done. Having been going to this dealer for nearly 10 years I know most people on first name terms, so I quizzed the service manager and he said they had strict instructions not to do the update 3 as it had recently ‘killed’ several cars.... reportedly they must wait until update 4 or update 3.x is released. Only if I have a real issue would they be forced to try an update it.
Was SSM73677 (17c) issued on 8th December? Just wondering if my dealer is out of date or leading the way?
In fact I see on topix there is now a SSM73699 listed as 17c? But not got a licence to see what this update says or when it was issued?
I had my car updated yesterday and when I picked it up it was a mess, they re-installed the V3 today and it all seems to be OK.
There seem to be a few obvious changes, a signal strength for the Sim card instead of just displaying 3G, a facility for the car to notify you a map update is a available and I am sure there are others and will check further tomorrow.
